Link Roundup

Over the past few weeks I’ve had a lot of columns and reviews and other things go up on various sites (well, two) and so I thought I should link to them here so that people could actually, you know, see them. Separated by site and in chronological order:

LitReactor

Over at LitReactor I did a recap of the Sandman Slim series to date just in time for the latest release (which I will be reviewing for Tor.com next week).

Also at LitReactor, I wrote two posts in honor of Pacific Rim — one was a Top 10 Giant Monsters post and the other a Top 10 Giant Robots.

Then there’s my review of Neil Gaiman’s The Ocean at the End of the Lane.

And finally, my Primer on Alfred Bester (Science Fiction great).

Tor.com

Over at Tor.com they’ve restarted my reread of The Chronicles of Amber by Roger Zelazny. The first post, for Nine Princes in Amber is up now.

I also reviewed the Jim Butcher Dresden Files story from the upcoming anthology, Dangerous Women.

And just today, my review of Charlie Huston’s Skinner went up.

Please check them out if you have the inclination.

A few links…

Over at LitReactor.com, they posted my 5 Reasons The Hobbit is Superior to The Lord of the Rings. It might be a little provocative, but I definitely stand by the last point. And having finally seen the Peter Jackson movie (Part 1, at least), I might have more to say later.

Over at Tor.com, the Dresden Files Reread has reached book 7 in the series, Dead Beat. This one is the favorite of a lot of people I know. New posts go up on Mondays.

Finally, my Top Ten of Fantasy for 2012 is up at LitReactor. As usual, the frustrating part of making lists like this is that I’m limited by what I read, but I’m happy with the choices on that list. I’ve already picked up a few recommendations from other lists as well.

Hope you’ll check them out…

All kinds of updates

So I have a lot to talk about since it’s been a while. Expect an explosion of posts in the coming days.

First, though, I have to share that my middle-grade novel, which I’ve been working on for the past few years, was sent out on submission recently. In a rare moment of pride, I actually feel really good about this book. Fly confidently, little bird. I hope you find a home.

Next up, I’m doing a reread of The Dresden Files for Tor.com. So far the first five books in the series have been covered and new posts will go up every Monday until we get through the series. If you’re fans of the books or thinking about reading them, I hope you’ll give them a look.

Also Dresden-related, I wrote a review of the latest book in the series, Cold Days, also for Tor.com.

Finally, Diverse Energies is finally out. It contains my story, “What Arms to Hold Us,” but more importantly it has stories by Ursula K. Le Guin, Malinda Lo, Cindy Pon, Paolo Bacigalupi, K. Tempest Bradford, Rahul Kanakia, and more. As mentioned here before, it’s dystopian YA stories highlighting diversity. I hope you’ll give it a read.

That’s all for now. More to come later…

More Writing (and other) News

I promise that this blog is not going to be me promoting my own stuff, but there were a few things I wanted to mention from the past month or so.

First of all, I mentioned this on Twitter, but my story, “Card Sharp”, received an Honorable Mention in the Year’s Best Science Fiction (28th edition) edited by Gardner Dozois. This makes “Card Sharp”, without a doubt, my most popular story to date.

In addition, The Way of the Wizard, the anthology that “Card Sharp” originally appeared in, was just nominated for a World Fantasy Award (along with editor John Joseph Adams). I was so happy to be a part of that anthology and I’m glad that John is being recognized for putting it together.

In other news, my review of Jim Butcher’s Ghost Story, the 13th and latest book in the popular Dresden Files, recently went up at Tor.com.

And my narration of “Songs for Dead Hearts” by Mandana Faridani, just went up at Pseudopod, the first time I’ve done a podcast for them.

I think that’s everything for now. Next up I have some writing from other people that I want to mention…

Articles at Tor.com

Sorry to bombard you all with more self-promotion, but it just so happens that this week I have a few things up at Tor.com and thought I would mention them.

My appreciation of Michael Moorcock

My Iron Man 2 Review (with SPOILERS)

The latest Lost Round Table (with Bridget McGovern and Theresa DeLucci)
