New Year, New Announcement

I’m happy to announce that I started the year with two short story sales. My story, “The Last Cloud Painter,” will be appearing at some point in the future in Asimov’s magazine. I’ve been working on this story for at least 10 years, though I couldn’t quite figure out the ending until a year or two ago. The idea for the story came to me in a dream. I’m so glad that it will finally be seeing print.

I also sold a story, “Voices Singing in the Void,” to Clarkesworld magazine. I’ve been trying to get into Clarkesworld for a long time, and I’m immensely pleased to have a story coming out there (at some future point). This story was inspired by the beautiful writing I had the good fortune to read when I attended the Sycamore Hill writing workshop last year. Sometimes there’s nothing more inspiring than extremely talented peers.

Now I have to get to writing more stories…

    I just read The Last Cloud Painter in Asimov’s and had to look you up. The story is beautiful and I loved it. I don’t often look up the authors of stories in that magazine, it’s still very much in the “pulp fiction” genre for me, but this one very much stood out. Excellent work.
